On February 17, 2022, we arrived in Ecuador with the intention of creating a new learning place for children and young people from indigenous communities, collaborating with Yachana Foundation, an impressive environment in the middle of the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest.
On the 18th, we organized a #DesignThinking Workshop with the leaders of the indigenous communities, Yachana Foundation, EducAcción, and our Espacios Maestros team. The goal was to lay the foundation for the future ‘Colearning for learning in the Amazon.’
On the 29th, a dedicated group of 60 students from Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada in Spain and Colegio Johannes Kepler in Ecuador, engaged in social responsibility and active learning through ‘learning by doing.’ They traveled to Yachana to, alongside the representatives of indigenous communities, re-envision the new space, dig the earth, and lay the concrete foundations for this committed joint project in the heart of our Mother Earth.
In these sad times of wars and pandemics, it is inspiring to see how a small group of children, young people, and adults, working together and committed to a larger social cause, can change education, society, and the future of our planet.
Thank you all for your tremendous effort, responsibility, and commitment!!!
